Ingredients for homemade Halloween party dip including Jet Puffed marshmallow, vanilla, cocoa powder and more

Ingredients & Why They Work:

  • Marshmallow fluff: This is the base of our dip, giving it that light and fluffy texture.
  • Powdered sugar: Adds sweetness and helps to thicken the dip.
  • Cream cheese, softened: Cream cheese makes the dip extra creamy and adds a subtle tanginess.
  • Heavy cream: This creates a rich and decadent texture.
  • Cocoa powder: Hello, chocolate! This is what gives our dip that irresistible hot cocoa flavor.
  • Vanilla extract: Enhances the chocolate flavor and adds a touch of warmth.
  • Mini marshmallows: Because who can resist extra marshmallows in their hot cocoa dip?
  • Holiday sprinkles: A festive touch to make it extra special!

Directions for our easy hot cocoa dip recipe:

  1. In your large bowl, combine the cream cheese with a bit of heavy cream to get it nice and smooth and get any bumps out. Once it is smooth, add the remainder of the cream and the marshmallow creme fluff, powdered sugar, heavy cream, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract.
  2. Using your electric mixer on low speed, beat the mixture until it’s light, fluffy, and well combined. This should take about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Transfer the dip to your favorite serving bowl and top with mini marshmallows and sprinkles.

“Stretch it” Tip:

Have some leftover dip? Don’t let the cocoa dip go to waste! You can spread it between graham crackers and freeze them for mini frozen treats.

Tips and Tricks for our delicious hot cocoa dip:

  • Make sure your cream cheese is softened to room temperature for easy mixing.
  • Don’t overmix the dip!  Overmixing can make it runny.
  • Get creative with your toppings! Chopped nuts, chocolate shavings, or even a drizzle of caramel sauce would be delicious.
  • Personalize our easy holiday dessert for any time of year or holiday season with things like candy canes at Christmas or orange-filled Oreos at Halloween.

FAQs:

  1. What can I serve with this hot cocoa dip?
Oh, the possibilities are endless!  Some of my favorite dippers are crushed waffle cones, Nilla wafers, graham crackers, pretzels, pirouette cookies, stroopwafels, vanilla wafers, animal crackers, chocolate chip cookies, and fresh fruit and berries. I am sure your favorite cookies would be amazing in our delicious hot chocolate dip!
  2. Can I make this dip ahead of time?
Absolutely! You can make your easy hot chocolate dip a day or two in advance and store it in the refrigerator, which is one of my favorite things to keep on hand. Also, I may eat the chocolate by the spoonful. But don’t tell!!!
  3. Can I use a different type of milk instead of heavy cream?
Heavy cream gives the best texture, but you can substitute it with whole milk or half-and-half if needed. Just keep in mind that the dip might be slightly thinner.
  4. Can I use a different kind of marshmallow fluff?
I recommend sticking with the original marshmallow fluff for this recipe, as other brands might have a different consistency.
  5. My dip is a little runny. What did I do wrong?
It might be that your cream cheese wasn’t fully softened or that you overmixed the dip. Try chilling it in the refrigerator for a bit to help it thicken up.
