FAQs:
Can you make candy kabobs ahead of time? You could make these ahead of time, but if you do, then we recommend wrapping them in plastic wrap of cellophane bags to keep them soft. We recommend making them an hour or two before serving if you aren’t going to wrap them.
Get creative! These fun Valentine’s Day candy sticks would be fun for kids to help with and might be a fun way to do a classroom Valentine’s Day party activity.
Supplies for delicious candy kabobs:

Valentine Candy Kabobs
Ingredients for Valentine’s Day kabobs:
- Wilton Candy Melts, bright white
- Wilton Valentine’s Day sprinkles
- Sunkist Fruit Gems
- Hershey’s Kisses
- Puffs Sstuffed Hearts
- Trolli Strawberry Puffs
- Haribo Sweet and Sour Hearts
- Haribo Sour Streamers
- Haribo Watermelon Gummy Candy
- Sour Patch Kids hearts
Directions on how to make the perfect candy skewer:
- To keep sticks smooth, you’ll want to soak skewers in water for five minutes, or until no dry spots remain. This will prevent the candies from snagging. Quickly pat the excess water off, but do not allow to dry.
- Before you put your candies on the skewers, lay them out in the design of your choice. It’s much easier to rearrange the candies for maximum cuteness if you haven’t already skewered them. OR, just go for it. We love that kind of candy skewering as well!
- Gently poke each skewer through the thickest part of the candy, then slide into place. Leave room at the bottom of the stick so guests can hold them without getting sticky fingers. Serve immediately.
Variations and substitutions:
Gummy candies are our favorite for our candy kabob recipes, but there are so many different things you can add besides gummy candy. We also love marshmallows, chocolates and just about anything that will hold it’s form with a wooden stick through it.
Favorite gummy candies to use include: rainbow sour belts, any gummy animals, Swedish Fish, the ideas are endless! If you have a local store that has bulk candy bins, that would be a great way to get more ideas for your candy sticks!
We also LOVE marshmallow candy on skewers. Think Peeps (so many holiday options with Peeps) but we also love big marshmallows and for this V-day kabob recipe, we dipped them in yummy melted Wilton chocolate, and then again in sprinkles for a fun look:
We also love to arrange these fun candy bouquets in cute vases! For added fun, fill your vase or jar with colorful candies like holiday themed M&M’s, or Jelly Belly Valentine’s Day Mix. You’ll have an adorable candy bouquet!
Tips and Tricks:
We used 10-inch skewers, but you can use whatever size you have on hand.
As you can see in the photos, I was able to twist the fun Haribo Watermelon Gummy Candies into heart shaped before I put them on the skewers, so get creative and have fun with this!
Chocolate candies might be easy to skewer, but they make such a mess when you handle them and skewer them. Gummy candies seem to do best. But, as shown above, we do love dipping a marshmallow in chocolate if you need to get your chocolate fix in there.
Gummy candy kabobs are always a big hit for parties, and your party guests will love taking them home. The key to making these fun is to pick bright, vibrantly colored candies for maximum wow factor.
I think making different stacked designs is definitely the most fun part of these kabobs, and when you assort the stacking order, they show really nicely together when assembled into a big bouquet.
