Did you know that you can transform plain vanilla ice cream into homemade cookie monster ice cream with a simple technique? And the best part? No ice cream machine needed!
A true cookie lover’s dream!
By using softened vanilla ice cream from your favorite store, you can drastically reduce the time it takes to make your favorite sesame street ice cream, just like you’d find at your local ice cream shop. But we love homemade ice cream recipes!
Equipment you’ll need:
- Large bowl
- Spatula (I big fat puffy heart love this set)
- Loaf pan or container that can go in the freezer (I just got one of these and can’t wait to use it!!!)
- Plastic wrap
- Whisk or electric mixer
- Ice cream scoop
- Toothpicks to scoop gel food coloring
Ingredients:
- 1.5 quarts vanilla ice cream
- blue gel food coloring
- Mini Chips Ahoy chocolate chip cookies
- Oreo cookies minis
- Golden Oreo minis
Directions for making Cookie Monster Ice Cream:
1. Soften the Vanilla Ice Cream by leaving it at room temperature for 10-15 minutes. You can also microwave the ice cream for 10-15 seconds until it is softened but not completely melted.
2. Add blue food coloring until you reach your desired blue color. I used a hand mixer to incorporate the color easier so I can get the perfect blue ice cream color.
3. Mix in mini cookies with a spatula until they are evenly distributed. Scoop into loaf pan. Use a piece of plastic wrap and set it directly on the creamy ice cream mixture.
4. Refreeze until ice cream is firm again, 2-4 hours, depending on your freezer’s temperature.
5. Once refrozen, scoop into ice cream cones or bowls.
