FAQs:

What desserts can I make without an oven?

This one! But of course there are plenty more delicious no bake dessert. We also love mug cakes, floats, parfaits, cold-set tarts, puddings, parfaits, crepes, eggless cookie dough, milkshakes, frappuccinos, smoothies and smoothie bowls.

How do you make store bought desserts look homemade?

The easiest way to make a store bought dessert look homemade is to decorate the top to fit the occasion. Check out how pretty we made this tart with just Reese’s peanut butter cups and Wilton’s chocolate drizzle! You can use any kind of candy, fresh fruit, edible flowers, or whipped topping and dress up your dessert in minutes. Whether your dessert is homemade or store bought, customizing the top takes it to the next level!

What are the simplest types of desserts?

You can make a delectable dessert, even in a time crunch or a budget pinch. Or maybe you just want a kid-friendly recipe that they can help with. Fruit and cheese boards, jellos, custards, pudding, cobblers, and mousses all require very little skill and prep time.

What can I use as a substitute for eggs in baking?

One of the best egg substitutes is nut butter! That’s one reason this recipe works as a no-bake, and holds together. One egg is roughly equivalent to 3 tablespoons of creamy nut butter. Chunky nut butter typically does not mix in as well.

Other substitutes like applesauce, arrowroot powder, gelatin, agar agar, soy lecithin, buttermilk, overripe banana, flaxseed, yogurt, chia seed, soft tofu, vinegar & baking soda, and aquafaba can all work too. Just be sure to check the measurements for egg equivalents, and don’t be afraid to adjust the amount if your mixture or bake turns out with the wrong consistency.

Substitutions

Base:

  • Use Oreo cookies, chocolate wafers, or other store-bought cookies instead of brownie bites for the base. Then make sure to adjust the amount of Wilton chocolate decorating icing to get the right doughy & chewy tart base texture.

Filling:

  • Use Greek yogurt instead of cream cheese and heavy cream for a slightly healthier option. If your filling doesn’t have a creamy, almost-pourable consistency, add a little cream or milk to thin it out, or a little powdered sugar to thicken it.
  • Mix in almond butter, cashew butter, or the nut butter of your choice instead of peanut butter. Again, if your mixture’s consistency isn’t perfect, thin it with cream or thicken it with powdered sugar.

Topping:

  • Use your own favorite toppings!
  • Try fresh strawberries and vanilla wafers for a peanut butter and jelly vibe.
  • Add dark chocolate chips for a touch of bitterness.
  • Top with slices of bananas for a ‘chunky monkey’-like experience.
  • Finish your tart with any of these mouthwatering drizzles from Wilton: Chocolate, Caramel, Strawberry
