Halloween is just around the corner, and it’s the best time to whip up some wickedly good treats. These Easy Halloween Cookies were a hit with my little monsters, and I’m thrilled to share the recipe with you. They’re simple, only a little spooky, and oh-so-satisfying.

Let’s get into the Halloween spirit and make these easy treats! They make a perfect addition for Halloween parties at school, and even grown-up party guests!  The hardest part of making these is not eating all the yummy Halloween theme cookies before the kids get to them.

Let’s gather the enchanting but simple ingredients for our Halloween cookies:

  • 2 cups of semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup of Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1/4 cup of shredded coconut
  • 1/2 cup of thin chow mein noodles
  • Wilton candy eyes

Directions for these no-bake Halloween desserts:

1. Prepare Your Witch’s Cauldron: Begin by lining a baking sheet with parchment paper. This will prevent your spooky spiders from sticking.

2. Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe medium bowl, add the semisweet chocolate chips. Microwave for 45 seconds, stir, and then microwave in additional 30 second intervals, stirring between each set, until the melted chocolate is smooth and velvety.

3. Spooky Mix: Stir in the Rice Krispies and shredded coconut. Make sure both ingredients are well coated in that luscious chocolate. If you find you have excess chocolate, feel free to add more Rice Krispies.

4. Shape the Spiders: Using a teaspoon, drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto the parchment paper, forming the shape of a spider’s body.

5. Add Legs: Time to give these spiders their creepy-crawly legs! Insert four chow mein noodles into each side of the spider body for those unmistakable spider limbs.

6. Eyes of the Beholder: Don’t forget to add Wilton candy eyes on top of each spider. It’s what gives them their delightful, eerie charm.

7. Chill and Set: Pop your spiders into the refrigerator for about 15 minutes to set. Alternatively, you can let them set at room temperature for approximately 1 hour. This part is so hard when you’re eagerly waiting to gobble them up!

This is one of our favorite holidays to get creative. There are so many candies and fun treats that easily be swapped in or out.

  • Get creative with your spiders by using different shapes for the eyes. Try using M&M’s, candy eyeballs, white chocolate chips, or mini marshmallows for a unique twist.
  • If you’re not a fan of chow mein noodles, pretzel sticks or even licorice can make excellent spider legs.
  • Experiment with various sprinkles or edible glitter to add a touch of sparkle to your Halloween cookies.
  • Use a tiny bit of chocolate to glue the cookie spiders to a peanut butter cup, donut hole, rice krispie treats, or Oreo cookies. This twist on these cute treats makes it look like the spider is guarding its candy goodies.
