Equipment:
Slow Cooker – this 7 quart one is super affordable, will hold plenty for a family, and bonus…it has a warm setting!
Ingredients:
- 2 pounds beef stew meat
- salt & pepper to taste
- 1 packet brown gravy mix
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 packet Lipton Onion Soup Mix
- 1 cup ginger ale or beef broth
- non-stick cooking spray
- garnish with parsley
Directions:
1. Spray the inside of the slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray. Cut beef stew into smaller pieces if they are larger than a bite-size.
2. Place the beef in the slow cooker and generously sprinkle with salt & pepper, making sure to keep the beef in a single layer.
3, Add brown gravy packet, cream of mushroom soup, dry onion soup mix, and beef broth. Stir until well combined and beef is well coated.
4. Place lid on slow cooker and cook on low for 6 to 7 hours.
5. Serve over-cooked egg noodles with your favorite side.
Variations:
- Serve over cooked rice or hot mashed potatoes.
- For presentation, consider displaying it in a casserole dish.
Tips:
- Substitute sirloin or beef tenderloin tips if you need to make this quicker (high for 3 to 4 hours in the crockpot), as those cuts of meats do not need to be cooked as long to become tender.
- Tender Cuts of Meat: sirloin, tenderloin, ribeye.
- Tougher Cuts of Meat: rump roast and chuck roast. These cuts will become more tender the longer they are cooked.
- Since you will be simmering this, you do not need to brown your meat before adding it to the crock pot.
This is such a nice home cooked meal option – and a great beginner recipe. A comforting dinner idea, this is also perfect for family gatherings or special meals.
